Earth Day DIY finds including how to upcycle placemats, how to make a paper bead necklace, how to emboss aluminum cans, how to crochet an Earth pillow, and how to turn a quilt into a tote bag.

It’s been a while since I shared a Weekly Dose post. I thought I would share an Earth Day special with you including some of my favorite bloggers.
I always love to share awesome patterns, tutorials, and finds with ya! If you would like to see a review on any of them, feel free to drop me a line!

Tasty Find – How to Make Personalized Placemats with Maps (Photo Tutorial) from Pillar Box Blue:
I love this idea from Pillar Box Blue! When you end up with placemats you aren’t crazy about, or you’re just tired of, it’s so easy to decoupage them with something more up your alley. Think of the possibilities!

Beauty/Jewelry Find – Upcycle Toilet Paper into Paper Beads from Purple Hues and Me:
Friends, who ends up with two or three squares of toilet paper left on the roll at the end? I know I do sometimes. Don’t throw it out! Use this photo tutorial from Purple Hues and Me to turn them into paper beads! Who knew?

DIY Find – Recycled Aluminum Can Butterfly Embellishments (Photo Tutorial) from Crafts Unleashed:
Lately, I have really been thinking about the soda/beer cans we recycle contemplating what I could turn them into. The idea of sharp edges scares me a little, but my husband suggested sand papering the edges down. What a neat idea to emboss them, and paint to match!
Those butterflies could go onto a handmade wreath or sign, turned into a necklace, or change up the image all together, and it could be perfect for any time of year. Hmmm, I am wondering if they could even be used as cupcake toppers?

Yarny Find – Crochet Planet Earth Pillow (Free Pattern) from Repeat Crafter Me:
This is a fun alternative to a globe (if the globe is used decoratively). Perfect to celebrate Earth Day of course, but also great for a child’s room that has a space/solar system themed room, or as part of an explore themed room/home.

Stitching Find – Retro Patchwork Bedspread Into a Throw and Tote Bag (Inspiration) from Sum of their Stories:
This idea is excellent for a quilt you’ve had sitting at home (like Julie did) or for thrift store finds that you’ve fallen in love with the pattern, but want something a little different in design. I think this as a tote bag is awesome! I would definitely rock that. Other upcycling ideas include placemats, a table runner or a few throw pillows.
