Fall Decorating: Wool & Velvet Pumpkin Cloche

August 25, 2020

How to make a Fall cloche & decorate with wool and velvet pumpkins.

Things got hectic when I went back to work, so it’s been a few months since my last Pinterest Challenge, but happy to be participating in this one!

The last one I did was a cross between Mother’s Day and Memorial Day, and I shared my Upcycled Fountain into Coleus Fairy Garden.

This month’s theme is Fall Cloche.

Our inspiration comes from Beth of Home Stories A to Z, and it’s found in her Fall Decorating Home Tour from 2015.

The Challenge

Every month, Cindy from County Road 407 sends us a Pinterest photo that fits our theme. The purpose of the challenge is to inspire us to take elements from the inspiration, and use them in our own unique way.

The Pieces That Inspired Me

  • Obviously, the cloche
  • Light Green from the Leaves
  • Cream Colored Pumpkin
  • Burlap Runner

I’ve been wanting to get a cloche for some time, so when this challenge arose, I headed to Hobby Lobby to get one, and I got lucky with a couple different sales too, including everything you see here minus the cream colored pumpkin. Score!

The cloche did have a plate option that it could sit right in, but I really like the idea of the burlap, and haven used chargers before for similar decorating on my entryway table, I decided to omit the plate, and pick up a burlap charger (I tested it out in the store to make sure it would sit well first).

I found the velvet pumpkins in a package together, and while my original idea was to have the cream pumpkin sitting on top of the little pumpkins, when I got home, and was playing around with the arrangement, I decided to take the galvanized cake plate from the candles, and put it in here. Yes! Perfect!

For my pumpkin, I really wanted a crocheted one, but I didn’t have time to make one. Mine came from RoosterTiesHandmade on Etsy. I found her listing of Three Rustic Crochet Pumpkins, and really loved the shape of the yellow and orange. I asked if I could custom order some, and ended up with the cream, and an orange one (with a teal one coming soon after the yarn arrives). $14 was an excellent price, and they are beautiful, not to mention the perfect size for what I needed.

Alexandra, I love your new pumpkin!! Okay, all the new pumpkins. 😉 I saw your style of cloche at HL and almost picked it up but ended up with the one shown over my way. I like that yours is tall and you can stack all kinds of things inside it! Very soft and pretty arrangement!!! <3

    Enjoy using your cloche,
    Barb 🙂

I thought for sure you made the crochet pumpkin, but this one is really cute. Love your idea of putting it on the cute stand under the cloche!

I also thought you made the crocketed pumpkin but it’s great that since you didn’t have time, you found one on Etsy. It looks pretty under your cloche with the smaller green pumpkins.

Love it, and the fact that you got help from another crocheter, good for you! Now I am wanting to crochet a pumpkin, but its not a thing here in Israel, so maybe better to crochet an apple! thanks for sharing on craft schooling Sunday!

This looks great. I agree that the burlap plate is a great choice with the rustic wool yarn of the pumpkin. Thanks for visiting again this week at #HomeMattersParty

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
