Several months ago, Liberty from B4 and Afters asked me if I was interested in working with her to create some scarves using Red Heart’s Boutique Ribbons Yarn that would be given away in a future giveaway (this one).
I wanted to use the Ribbons Yarn in a non-traditional way, and was excited to be joining in! With creating the scarves, I also created the two patterns themselves, which each feature 4 sizes: Toddler, Child, Teen/Adult Small and Adult Large.
In this giveaway, you have the opportunity to win either one of 3 handmade scarves, or one of 4 skeins of yarn or one of 2 crochet patterns. In total, there will be 9 winners!
If you can’t wait, you can purchase your own copy of the Haylee Sashay Scarf HERE, or Fae Haylee Sashay Scarf HERE.
Let’s See Those Scarves!
My initial vision was a simple scarf that used the Ribbons Yarn to create a ruffle around the edge, and it worked out perfectly!
This is the Haylee Sashay Scarf. My Haylee series features simple half double crochet stitches. I’ve paired it with Lion Brand Wool Ease.
If you win the pattern, and yarn, you will still need your own worsted weight yarn. Your favorite one will do 🙂
And I had plenty of yarn left over, so then I embellished another simple scarf just a bit on the ends. This is worked row by row so you can add as many rows or as little as you like (or have the yarn for).
This is the Fae Haylee Sashay Scarf. Fae Haylee features simple half double crochet stitches that are worked into the front loop only to create the ridges needed to add the ribbon to. This one has also been paired with Lion Brand Wool Ease.
If you win the pattern, and yarn, you will still need your own worsted weight yarn. Your favorite one will do 🙂
This purple beauty has been hand knit by Liberty. The ruffles on this one are so gorgeous, and fluffy. You can see another way to wear it in THIS post from B4 and Afters.

I love this purple scarf. It’s delicate and yet striking in appearance. Wearing it would make me feel so happy!
Alexandra says
It does look delicate and striking! And fluffy. Need to sit down and watch her video again to see about making myself one!

What a wonderful twist. I haven’t seen this ribbon yarn yet, but I haven’t been to the stores, because…..well, you know, it’s 2020! I’m a sucker for yarn ;), but can’t go wrong with any decision!
The scarves are fancied up with this ribbon and I suppose maybe even boot cuffs and slipper tops? Ideas are flowing…lol
Alexandra says
Sadly, this yarn is from years ago, and has been discontinued. Shame because I’ve fallen in love with it all over again! But you can find it on Etsy, eBay and Overstock.com. Any variety of Sashay Yarn will work. I can only imagine matching boot cuffs! Man, I hope someone comes out with a new version of this yarn.

Interesting! I haven’t seen ribbon yarn before. The scarves are lovely. I will feature this post in this week’s Creative Compulsions.

Sadly, it’s been discontinued for some time, but it can still be found on Etsy, eBay and Overstock.com. It was so fun to work with – I hope a company brings it back.

I love to see the fun creativity coming out. I love my scarf and wearing a new one today in my favorite color: yellow!

In recent years, yellow has really caught my eye. Bright, and cheery, and really great all year long. I wish I lived somewhere that scarves were used more often. In Florida, even cold days turn into warm afternoons.
Cheryl Heming says
I would love to win the pattern and yarn to make this pretty scarf.
Julie says
I love how you used the fancy yarn as an edging, just to add a little extra interest.
Alexandra says
Yes! It was perfect for embellishing. Now I’d like to take some of the fur yarn that’s out, and try the same thing with it.
