Yarn Fanatic Linky Party #32 – Tinted Tangles Giveaway

April 13, 2015

Welcome to the 32nd Yarn Fanatic Link Party, and my 15th as co-host, alongside Rachel from The Philosopher’s Wife.

This week I was able to get the free pattern and guide for the Sweet Fantasy Granny Square Baby Blanket posted. It has a lot of information, and I have corrected a few minor issues but I would appreciate if you could just look it over and see if there’s anything else I am missing! I will be turning into a PDF for friendly printing.

I have quite a few WIPs that I have been alternating these last few days, and I will definitely be sharing them this Wednesday, and have a few new free crochet patterns to share soon too!
I also have a washcloth pattern that I am having some trouble finishing. I will be posting a photo of it and my dilemma on Wednesday. Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

AND!
I decided to start a group on Facebook – EyeLoveKnots Crafting Community.
I wanted a central location where we could share projects, inspiration, resources and experiences with each other, and seek out crafting, business, blogging, etc advice and suggestions. I hope you’ll join us!

Most Clicked:

Left to Right:
Hopsy Daysi Doll from Lunamon Design. This post is full of Monica’s finished projects from Easter. This doll is one of them, and isn’t she neat? I love all color in her.

Happy Colors Doily from Lunamon Design. This doily was designed to go with Happy Color buckets for Monica’s daughters room. I just LOVE the pattern and the colors chosen. I think it would make a great rug, and since there is a free pattern attached, I will be adding it to my list of things to do!

Heart Doily from My World of Crochet. I also love these heart doilies! I have a soft spot for doilies these days. I am adding these to my list too! Visit this post to see two color schemes of the doily.

EyeLoveKnots Yarn Favorites:

Left to Right, Top to Bottom:
I went a little overboard with favorites this week but I just had to! It’s always tough to narrow down favorites, but this week was extra difficult so we find more than usual here!

Dream Stripe Shawl from Solin World. I love everything about this shawl. I have a love hate relationship with the fact that it is knit and not crocheted, because I do love the look of knitted pieces but means I need to work up a crocheted version. I am not worried, though as this is a great inspiration! 😉

Workshop Flower Hooks from Hip met Haken, which I think translates to Hip with Hooks. Since beginning the cohosting of this linky party, I have come to discover a lot more bloggers from overseas and I am quite impressed. This blog is a new one I have added to my list, and even though the translation doesn’t come across exactly, I can still appreciate the projects and stories. Anyways, this long introduction is to the fact that this workshop Saskia attended was based out of a crochet book by Clarie Boeter that I think even though isn’t in English, I may just buy anyway! I love the look of these flowers that Saskia shared with us, and I want to make some too! Especially the tulips.

Colorful Flower Mandalas from Da’s Crochet Connection. I think this piece speaks for itself. I think I will be making one of these in every color!

#Knit4Monarchs from Ginx Craft. I am really impressed with the projects that I see from Ginx Craft. You may remember the London Routemaster Bus that was shared a few parties ago, and today I am featuring a special project not only because it is full of beautiful creatures, but also because it supports a beautiful cause – the endangered Monarch. 50% of proceeds from the sold patterns is donated to the David Suzuki Foundation to help raise awareness. Do the monarchs a favor and plant a milkweed – please!

Granny Square Bolster from My World of Crochet. As you know, I have a soft spot for anything granny square, and this pillow is no exception! It’s been a while since I have seen a bolster pillow but that just makes it extra special. I am in the process of redoing my room, and will be adding this to my list for my bed.

Little Sailor Set from Creative Crochet Toys. This set is just adorable! I am especially loving the baby blanket. Summer is right around the corner making this the perfect time to start working on some beachy themed items. This blanket would make a cute photo prop, and/or great baby shower gift.

Pink Granny Square Blanket from Treasures Made from Yarn. The coral flower with the Springy variegated yarn border is my favorite part of this blanket! The flowers really pop, and just make the perfect Spring decor piece. I fell in love with it even before I noticed it was linked up to our party.

Spring Pendulum from Hip met Haken. I do think the translation was off in this post title as it is a bunting, but I could be wrong and a pendulum could just be what it is called elsewhere, but I love it! And has a free pattern is attached for us all to create our own!

Easy Crochet Hearts from Atelier Marie-Lucienne. I am quite fond of these hearts too! They look especially sweet with both the color choice and embellishments. They would also be make great sachets – fill with lavender, rose petals or any other delightful aroma.

Smooth Fox’s Amethyst Square from Roses’ Crafts. This square is a WIP as part of the Moogly CAL. I really love the solid color of this square. Great choice! Make sure to visit this post to see some of the other great WIPs going on at Roses’ Crafts.

Moss Stitch Dishcloth from 5 Little Monkeys. I have been on a washcloth kick lately, and nice to see I am not alone in it. The moss stitch is one of my favorites and I don’t know why I didn’t think of working it up in a washcloth. It is full of nice, subtle texture but really pops with Erica’s color choice. Love it!

My Philosopher Favorite:

I am preparing to start participating craft shows, and renting booths at local flea markets. I asked Rachel if she had any advice, and she had some good points. Quotes taken from a conversation between Rachel and I.

1.) Promote! Don’t leave it in the hands of those running the craft show.

2.) Display. “A hat that’s propped up is way more likely to sell than one laying flat on the table.” I relate this to sales online – people want to see what the piece looks like on, versus just a flat product.
I just love the set up found in the above image. Though the craft fair is over, this image is a fantastic example of table set up. Check out more in her Craft Fair Recap.

3.) Have “universally eye catching pieces”. Even if you think the pieces won’t sell – bring them anyway! You need items that will bring people to your table.

Do you have any other tips/advice for me? Please comment below!

I have nothing to link today, (been sick) but I wanted to say you have a great idea with starting the Group on FB! So happy to hear you will be attending some Craft Shows! At the shows, my little input is the pricing aspect, If you have or can have made Business Cards, use them as your pricing labels! They serve double duty at low cost and makes everything look so much more professional on your tables as well. Wishing you the best in your new adventure!

Great idea with the business cards! I need to re-order anyway.
Thanks for stopping by, even though you aren't linking anything. Nice to have the company.

So happy to have you! I can't wait for things to start going. I am hoping to use it as a place to bounce ideas around, get opinions and suggestions and help with the patterns I am working on.
And thank you! It's tough to narrow them down, and takes a lot of time to put them together and construct this post. So nice to be acknowledged.

Love to hear that 🙂 I feel like we make a lot of things, but don't get to personally enjoy too many. I know I usually have someone in mind when I work up a piece.

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
