Yarn Fanatic Party #36 – String Theory Hand Dyed Yarn Sponsored Giveaway

May 11, 2015

Welcome to the 36th Yarn Fanatic Link Party, and my 19th as co-host, alongside Rachel from The Philosopher’s Wife.

What have I been up to? Well… not too much…::sighs::…I did make a purchase from Simply Crochet – shown above – but other than that, I was forced to take some time off.

One of my brother’s and his wife took a trip out of state for his work, and I stayed with my nephews for a few days. Three nephews were home, but the oldest is 19 and doing his own thing so I mostly had just the other two – Nicholas (5) and Maddox (3). I had some fun things in mind for us to do keep things moving, but my plans were forced to change when the littlest one got sick. Poor little guy. I did some cleaning up and lots of cuddling and was up a lot of the night. To all the moms and dads out there – props to you!

I was able to come back home this morning after I picked up my brother and sister in law from the airport, and took a nice long nap before coming into work.

Now, it’s catch up time because I was unable to do any work while with them – not that I am complaining because my hands definitely needed a break, and I have a lot of fun being around them. The conversations they have with each other, the little races around the house, the excuses they give me for not wanting to finish their food or go to bed, the things that excite them, answering the million and one questions they have, cuddling with them, kissing their boo boos… – all priceless.

Make sure to check in on Wednesday as I will be sharing a few photos from a fun little Mother’s Day project I worked with them.
05.13.15 UPDATE: DIY Clay Handprint Trinket Dishes for Mother’s Day.

Happy [Late] Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there! Hope you all had a wonderful one πŸ™‚

Most Clicked:

Left to Right, Top to Bottom:

Popcorn Lace, Part 3 from Lunamon Designs. I love seeing progress photos. All these Sophie’s Universe, the Mystery Crochet A Long’s, and series of projects stemmed from the same idea – like this Popcorn Lace Pillow. If you’ve been following along, you may remember seeing Part 1 and Part 2 in our Yarn Fanatic Parties. Monica shared both with us – and Part 2 was one of our Most Clicked featured in last week’s party. As much as I love the pastel Springy colors, I think I love the plain white one more! There’s just something about the white in combination with the texture.

African Flower Tutorial from Lunamon Designs. Oldies are just as good as new projects and such. Feel free to link up older projects with us!
You may remember the Doily and Table Runner featured at our YFP#33 – this African Flower Tutorial is what you’ll need to work up a runner for yourself. But! Think of all the other possibilities like a purse/tote, blanket, rug, pillow, or…

Tunisian Charity Throw from Milena Places. This blanket is awesome! Sampler blankets are so much fun because of all the different things going on within them – this Tunisian Throw is no exception as it’s also a sampler blanket full of fun, texture and color!

African Flower Giraffe from Coco Belle Blog. or… this ADORABLE African Flower Giraffe!! The pattern from this is part of a collection from Heidi Bears. She has many other animal patterns to choose from – all equally as cute! But not as cute as the pair of Natalie’s daughter and her new Giraffe. Jump over and check it out!

EyeLoveKnots Yarn Favorites:

Top Right downward in a Reverse “L” shape:

Block 6 for Moogly CAL from Linda’s Crafty Corner, Corner to Corner Blanket for the World’s Biggest Stocking from A City Without a Swing, Part 3 of Sophie’s Universe from Hakel Fieber, Hexagons Shabby Chic Blanket from Homemade at my Place, The Granny Square Blankets for the World’s Biggest Stocking from Crochet is the Way, More Squares Colors and Shapes from Milena Places, Non-Random Placement of Projek Bohemia Throw Squares from Haak-en-Stekie.

Left to Right, Top to Bottom:
Floral Tree from My World of Crochet, Pansy Wreath from Tej Art-terapia, Summer Stripes Dishcloth from Crochet n Crafts, Crochet Lampshade from My World of Crochet, Vintage Doily from A Simple Homestead, Scottie Plaid Dishcloth from Crochet for You, and A Pair of Cushions from Marie-Lucieene Atelier.
Left to Right, Top to Bottom:
Rising Sun Applique from Made in Craftadise, Scrubbies and Soaps from Milena Places, Wrapped Canvas Embroidered Wall Art from Sadie Seasongoods, Baby Ballerina Shoes from Tama Pollo, Shell Stitch Dog Collar from Posh Pooch Designs.

I have so many favorites from last week’s party, that I had a lot of trouble narrowing them down. I finally was able to get it down enough to put together a few different collections, but too many to go through in detail here as I usually do. I have decided to just show the collections above with the links to the projects, and I will share my EyeLoveKnots Yarn Favorites in detail tomorrow! Make sure to tune in around noon (EST).
05.12.15 UPDATE: Yarn Fanatic Party #36 Cont’d – EyeLoveKnots Yarn Favorites.

My Philosopher Favorite:

Have you seen the beautiful shades of yarn Rachel was given from String Theory Hand Dyed Yarn Inc to use and review? Hop over to her WIPS post to find out what she’s decided to work up with it πŸ™‚

Left to Right, Top to Bottom:
Long Island Worsted in Cyan, Caper Sock in Dark & Stormy, Caper Sock in Melon, Bluestocking in Peacock, Long Island Worsted in Oban, Marshall Island Sport in Twilight, Tinker Island Fingering in Kiwi, Long Island Worsted in Kiwi.
**Keep in mind dye lots are unique – note on the last two above. Both are named “Kiwi” but there is a clear distance. If ordering, make sure to get enough from the yarn dye lot to ensure the least variation.

This Week’s Giveaway is sponsored by STRING THEORY Hand Dyed Yarn, Inc. This is actually going to be a month long giveaway with multiple chances to win.

There are a few things on the Rafflecopter that can be completed daily, like leaving a blog post comment (2 opportunities daily), commenting on a link that’s already been shared by another (1 entry daily), linking up a project (1 entry daily).

One lucky winner will receive a $60 Gift Certificate to the String Theory Hand Dyed Yarn Shop. I know everyone could use a little yarn to add to their stash. We never have enough, isn’t that right?

If you haven’t had the chance to visit the String Theory shop and gallery, head over! The shop tabs are located on the left-hand side of the site. Each is very unique, and has it’s own little story found on the top of each page.
I think my favorite is the Caper Sock – “a luxurious blend 80% merino, 10% cashmere, and 10% nylon, springy with great stitch definition.” Doesn’t that sound amazing?! I would love to try some of this yarn to make a lacy Summer scarf, or perhaps a late Spring/early Fall shawl – what about you?

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Must be 18 Years or Older to enter. US only. Void where prohibited. Winner has 48 hours to respond to notification, or another winner will be chosen. Social media not affiliated with this giveaway. String Theory Hand Dyed Yarn, Inc is responsible for prize fulfillment, not EyeLoveKnots nor The Philosopher’s Wife.

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden orΒ re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
