Basic Gift Wrapping for an Ornament To Be Mailed (or Not)

December 4, 2018

This is an old bunch of photos – from December of 2016. They aren’t in focus too well in the peripherals because at the time I had dropped my phone/camera, but the idea still comes across, and I wanted to share it for anyone participating in an ornament exchange, or if you are just gifting someone a beautiful ornament – I do that all the time.

For this, I used some white tissue paper, some tape, brown paper, and the cutest little holiday boxes that I found on sale at JoAnn’s. What I really liked about these boxes (besides the great deal), was that they are nice and sturdy, so they were great for shipping in.

Domestically, a small box like this can ship for around the price for a small flat rate priority box – about $6.95.

Put some tissue paper into your box.

Really LOVE this box!

Place in your ornament – this is the Celtic Weave Bauble Ornament, my own design, and I have a free crochet pattern for it here on the EyeLoveKnots blog!

I had two ornaments to ship this year, so I had two cards that I included. I cut them to fit into the box…

… then I put it down the side of the box.

Cover with some more tissue paper to prevent the ornament from rolling around, and for more of a surprise when your recipient opens it.

To get my box ready for shipping, I just cut a piece of brown paper, and began wrapping. My mom taught me a long time ago to fold my edges in to make it look prettier.

More wrapping, and folding…

Tape up the box real good. If you have the cheap kind of scotch tape, you may want to use some of the thick, clear moving tape.

Hand write, or slap a label on the box, and get it shipped! Or hand letter as is, and put under the tree for gifting.

Please DO NOT re-publish my photos as your own. DO NOT copy and paste anywhere, link to it instead.

This is a great idea, and not only for ornaments. I often think that the simplest gift packages are always the best.
Thank you for sharing at The Really Crafty Link Party.

Welcome!

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
