How to turn my Super Easy Carrot Applique into a fun garden marker.

Welcome to the March Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by My Pinterventures. The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen!
This month’s theme is Spring/Garden Crafts!
My inspiration this month comes from THESE CARROT CUPCAKE TOPPERS from ScrapStarz on Etsy. You can find more Easter inspiration and DIYS in my Seasonal: Easter board.
I recently started a little garden – mostly veggies, and for the plants I bought already started, like my green peppers and strawberries, I just took the little marker that was in their original containers, and moved those over (because I like the additional information they have on them), but for the carrots that I planted seeds for, the planter didn’t have a marker, and I thought a garden themed project was the perfect time to make my marker. If it holds up well, I may make a whole set for my other pots.
The Plan
The carrot shape kind of reminds me of a leaf, so I planned on modifying my Basic Leaf (Free Crochet Pattern) to make it skinnier to better resemble the shape of a carrot.
Save this Crocheted Carrot Garden Marker project to your Favorites on FaveCrafts!
Materials:
- Small Amount of Worsted Weight Yarn – I used Red Heart’s Super Saver in Pumpkin and Tea Leaf
- H8/5mm Crochet Hook
- Tapestry Needle for Weaving in Ends
- Popsicle Stick – I used some Jumbo sized ones from my stash
- E6000 for outdoors or Hot Glue Gun and Sticks for indoors
Material Notes:
Yarn Alternatives: Caron’s One Pound, Bernat’s Super Value.
I originally made my marker with hot glue, but it only last two weeks or so before it fell off. I hadn’t considered it before, but hot glue in the hot sun are not a good match. Use E6000 for outdoor projects! Hot glue would be suitable for say a bookmark.
Time Spent:
10 Minutes (Carrot) + 5 Minutes (Assembly) = 15 Minutes or Less
Abbreviations:
- DC – Double Crochet
- HDC – Half Double Crochet
- SC – Single Crochet
DIY:

First, visit my Super Easy Carrot Applique (Free Crochet Pattern) to work up your own adorable little carrot.

After weaving in your ends, time to bust out the glue, and simply glue the applique to the popsicle stick – super easy!

All that is left is to add it to your pot!
