Super Easy Carrot Applique – Free Crochet Pattern

March 16, 2020

This is a free crochet pattern for how-to crochet my Super Easy Carrot Applique.

Tomorrow is the March Pinterest Challenge, hosted by My Pinterventures, and I designed this little carrot applique to go with my project for tomorrow. Since finishing them up, I have gotten a couple different ideas that I would like to work on over the next couple weeks. I am pretty excited about the possibilities.

The design itself is a modification of my Basic Leaf (Free Crochet Pattern). In wanting a skinnier shape, I simply changed all stitches larger than a double crochet to a double crochet. So easy!

If you would like a PDF version of this post, you may get one through either my EyeLoveKnots Etsy Shop, Ravelry or LoveCrafts Shop for a small fee. This fee is to compensate for the views lost when you no longer need to return to the blog to for the information, as you will have your own copy. Plus! It helps fund supplies for new projects to share with you!

Materials:

  • Small Amount of Worsted Weight Yarn – I used Red Heart’s Super Saver in Pumpkin and Tea Leaf
  • H8/5mm Crochet Hook
  • Tapestry Needle for Weaving in Ends

Material Notes:

Yarn Alternatives: Caron’s One Pound, Bernat’s Super Value.

Change up the yarn weight for different sized applique!

Time Spent:

The carrot itself takes less than 3 minutes, then figuring in weaving, this applique takes about 7 minutes to complete.

Measurements:

1.5″ Wide by 3.5″ Tall from Top Leaf to Bottom Point

Abbreviations:

  • DC – Double Crochet
  • HDC – Half Double Crochet
  • SC – Single Crochet

Pattern:

In Orange, chain 12. DC into the 4th chain, and then next 5 chains, HDC into the next chain, SC into the next chain, slip stitch into the next chain, chain 2, slip stitch into the same chain, now turn to work along the opposite side of the foundation chain: SC into the next chain, HDC into the next chain, DC into the next 6 chains, chain 1. Join to the 2nd chain of the skipped chains from the beginning, and fasten off Orange.

Join Green to the same spot as joined to previously. Chain 4, slip stitch into the same stitch, chain 6, slip stitch into the same stitch, chain 4, slip stitch into the same stitch, and fasten off.

Weave in ends.

Welcome!

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
