This is a free crochet pattern for how to crochet the Little Pebbles Scarf – an easy scarf pattern worked in an easy textured pattern created with simple single and treble crochets. Four sizes included.
A few years ago, I designed a washcloth (free crochet pattern HERE) and facial scrubbie (free crochet pattern HERE) set using this same textured stitch pattern, and really fell in love with it. I later published the Little Pebbles Soap Cozy or Gift Bag, which is the perfect little bag to house those facial scrubbies in, especially for gifting.
This scarf is a two row repeat. It’s the perfect project for when you’re binge watching your favorite show. The stitch pattern is also beginner friendly comprised of simple single crochets and treble crochets. With four sizes included, you can make one for each member of the family!
This scarf is also part of one my eBooks published this year: Let’s Crochet Some Scarves Vol 1. Available for purchase on Etsy HERE or Ravelry HERE.

Materials:
- 126 (263, 354, 565) Yards of Worsted Weight Yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver in Light Gray)
- H8/5mm Crochet Hook
- Tapestry Needle
Material Notes:
Yarn Alternatives: Lion Brand’s Basic Stitch, Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn, Red Heart’s Soft, Bernat’s Super Value.
If the finished size isn’t essential to you, you can even switch out the worsted weight yarn for bulky/chunky weight to make an even cozier scarf.
If you have concerns about using Red Heart Super Saver and similar because of the roughness and stiffness of the fabric, I have a couple tips!
- If the yarn is too rough for your hands to crochet with, remove the skein wrapper, place the skein into a mesh lingerie bag (I bought mine at JoAnn’s), then machine wash it by itself on the gentle cycle in cold water with a mild detergent. Once it’s finished, toss it into the dryer on low heat – you may need to run it through 2 – 3 times to get the center dry.
- To add softness and better drape to the finished piece, crochet in it’s entirety and weave in the ends, then wash and dry in the same manner (without the lingerie bag) or simply dry once with a dryer sheet.
Time Spent:
For the adult small size, I had my scarf ready in just under 5 hours.
Measurements:
- Toddler: 4″ Wide by 30″ in Length
- Child: 5.5″ Wide by 45″ in Length
- Adult Small: 6.13″ Wide by 60.12″ in Length
- Adult Large: 7.25″ Wide by 70.12″ in Length
Gauge:
11 HDC = 3″ Wide; 9 Rows = 3 1/8″
Abbreviations (US):
- SC – Single Crochet (Photo Tutorial)
- TR – Treble Crochet
Pattern:
Chain 14 (20, 22, 28). SC into the 2nd chain, and each across. [13 (19, 21, 27) SC]
R2: Chain 1 (does not count here or throughout), and turn. SC into the 1st stitch, (TR into the next stitch, SC into the next stitch) 6x (9x, 10x, 13x).
R3: Chain 1, and turn. SC into the 1st stitch, and each across.
R4 – 106 (158, 210, 246): Repeat Rows 2 – 3. You will finish on a Row 2 so the border can be worked from the right side of the scarf.
Border: Chain 1, turn. SC into each stitch across, (SC, chain 2, SC) into the corner, evenly SC (that’s 1 stitch per row) down the side of the scarf, (SC, chain 2, SC) into the next corner, SC across the opposite side of the foundation chain, (SC, chain 2, SC) into the next corner, evenly SC (that’s 1 stitch per row) up the side of the scarf, SC into the same stitch as the 1st, chain 1, then slip stitch join to the 1st SC.
Fasten off, and weave in ends.

I love this scarf – the colour will go with so much and it’s a really pretty pattern! If I could make my own scarves I’d have even more than I do now, haha! 🙂
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup!

Hehe. My problem is that I don’t get to wear them all that often since it’s warm a lot of the time here in Florida. I have been enjoying this one this last week though. Going to share a few of my outfits soon.

Oh, I just love this! Maybe my crochet skills and understanding will improve enough to try this pattern! Thank you for sharing with us at Embracing Home and Family!
Alexandra says
It is a beginner friendly pattern – just single crochet and treble crochet, and the texture is incredible! It’s especially nice for facial scrubbies and washcloths.

Have you thought of doing a video tutorial? I’m dyslexic and have a hard time reading patterns.
Alexandra says
On my list to do. I started a channel, but they’re a lot more involved.
Julie Fennell says
Is the length of the scarf pictured the 60″ or the 70″?
Alexandra says
60″. It’s the adult small size.
Beth McC -- Midwest Redhead says
I love the texture! I’m not keen on the new colorways with abrupt color changes in so many yarns. I adore great texture shown off in great stitch patterns — crocheted in solid colors of yarn.
Beautiful scarf. I plan to make this soon!
Alexandra says
I am right there with ya! I’ll take texture over the color changes any day. Glad you like the scarf 🙂 I’d love to see if you get the chance.
