Fall is the time for all things pumpkin spice, so when I saw the Pumpkin Spice Latte pattern by Crochet Pink Pumpkin, I knew I had to try it out for my fall markets! This giant pumpkin spice not only showcases the size everyone wishes their latte actually was, but also creates a wonderful conversation piece!

The Pumpkin Spice Latte pattern is a great pattern for intermediate crocheters who want to fully embrace pumpkin spice season! In just one evening, you can make way more than a venti-sized latte topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, and cinnamon sticks!

This pattern review is part of the Pumpkin Spice and Crafty Nights Event hosted at Yarn Crafts and Coffee. Each day from October 1st to October 7th, 2026, you can find a new featured project on the event page. Stay tuned for more great projects!

What Do I Need to Crochet a Pumpkin Spice Latte?

  • Super Bulky (Weight 6) Plush Yarn – I used Bernat Blanket, Sweet Snuggles Lite, and Bernat Pipsqueak
  • K10.5/6.5 mm Crochet Hook
  • Stuffing
  • Small Amount of Worsted Weight Yarn for Embellishments
  • Yarn Needle – I recommend using a Bent Tip Tapestry Needle
  • Pumpkin Spice Latte, free crochet pattern by Pink Pumpkin Crochet

Material Notes:

This crochet pattern calls for super bulky (weight 6 yarn). The designer used Premier Parfait Chunky and Hobbii Honey Bunny, but I chose to Bernat Blanket yarn instead for the majority of the latte. For the whipped cream, I used Sweet Snuggles Lite and Bernat Pipsqueak held together. I also used some Ella Rae Cuddle for the sprinkles and the cinnamon sticks.

We have lots of great crochet hooks in our Yarn Crafts and Coffee Yarn Shop. The most popular, and preferred by Candace and Emily, are the Clover Amour Crochet Hooks with the soft handles and smooth metal hook. Alexandra prefers metal crochet hooks with large, ergonomic clay handles and just loves the fun designs from SiennasBowtique and BronzeShepherdStudio! If your preference is wood, the LYKKE brand are lovely, smooth and sturdy.

In addition to the yarn and hook, you will also need stuffing and a tapestry needle to sew on features and weave in ends.

When it comes to a fluffy stuffing, Fairfield brand has been a household favorite for over 80 years as it maintains it’s integrity well through use and washing (including in the washing machine!), and the bonus is that it is also hypoallergenic.

Tapestry Needles with the blunt, round end are essential for sewing and finishing on a number of yarn crafts, including crocheting, knitting as well as needlepointing on fabric and plastic canvas. The blunt, rounded end allows the needle to pass easily through the fabric created by yarn and holes on canvas without snagging (or getting your fingers) in the process. More specifically for crocheting and knitting, a Bent Tip Tapestry Needle makes weaving, grafting and sewing so much easier on the hands. The long oval eye makes threading strands of yarn easier, though you may still want to use a needle threader.

How Long Does It Take to Crochet a Pumpkin Spice Latte?

This pattern took me about four hours from start to finish. There is a good bit of sewing involved to put it together, which was the most time-consuming part.

What Size is a Finished Pumpkin Spice Latte?

The finished pumpkin spice latte measures approximately 13 inches tall and 6 inches wide.

Gauge (Not Essential):

Gauge is not provided in this pattern and is not critical for making stuffed toys like this. You mainly want to make sure that your hook size is appropriate for your yarn and that your stitches are tight enough together so that your stuffing doesn’t come out through holes between the stitches.

If you want your Pumpkin Spice Latte to be the same size as mine, using Bernat Blanket and a K10.5/6.5 mm crochet hook, a magic circle with 6 single crochets should measure just over 1.25 inches in diameter.

All About Crocheting a Pumpkin Spice Latte:

The Pumpkin Spice Latte pattern is a fun pattern to work up, but I would definitely call this an intermediate pattern rather than a beginner-friendly pattern. Making the cup and the coffee sleeve are easy to work up, but the top of the latte can be a little challenging for a new crocheter.

The whipped cream is made in a flat piece that looks like a parallelogram. The sprinkles get sewn on to the flat piece, and then it gets folded and stuffed to make a tube. After it is stuffed, you will have to sew the whipped cream piece into the whipped cream shape, which can be a little difficult if you don’t have ami sticks or knitting needles to help hold the piece in place.

I would be happy to make another one of these pumpkin spice lattes despite some minor challenges, as the result is well worth the work that it takes to make it! I definitely recommend this pattern if you or a loved one are a huge pumpkin spice fan or you want a conversation piece for your next market!
