Yarn Fanatic Linky Party #29 – The Philosopher’s Wife Sponsored Giveaway – And My BIRTHDAY!

March 23, 2015

Welcome to the 29th Yarn Fanatic Link Party, and my 12th as co-host, alongside Rachel from The Philosopher’s Wife.

This week, I have been busy finishing up my baby items and blankets, as I have been sharing. I don’t have any photos to share at the moment though. I have tons sitting in my inbox, waiting to be edited and added to the blog posts so my free patterns and reviews can be shared. I just have been going to an unmotivated thing lately. I have some more words to share on this topic but later this week.

Did you know? Today is my birthday! I am 23 on the 23rd! That is partly why this party is posting later than usual. My boyfriend, Chad, let me sleep in this morning, and then he, his dad, roommate and I went out to IHOP for late breakfast/lunch. Was a great way to start out the day!

Was also pretty neat to open my Google page and see the birthday wish from them! How cool.

On the 15th, we celebrated my birthday at my Grandpa’s house. I have a really big family on my dad’s side – I was just one of four birthday’s being celebrated.

Here, I am wearing some baby bloomers on my head, and preparing
to start spinning. I made it 5 spins and then gave up. 23 is just too many!
Here I am sitting with my boyfriend, Chad.
We had just lit the candles on the cake for a third time so everyone
could sing me happy birthday.

Before we go onto the Goodies of our last Yarn Fanatic Party: I was a little disappointed to see that we didn’t have very many clicks on our last party. One thing I love about this party is our availability to come together as a crafting community and support one another. Clicking on others projects and commenting on them is a big part of the supporting of one another. Please – be part of the party! Don’t just link and run.

Most Clicked:

Left to Right:

Granny Square Blanket from Lunamon Design. I have a soft spot for Granny Square projects. It is the one pattern that I feel ANYTHING can be done with – including this cute pink, green and white one. Perfect Spring colors!

Spring Wreath from Keeping it Real. I love this bright, fun Spring Wreath! Yarn Wrapped and embellished by adorable little floral pieces. Perfect addition to your door this season.

My Yarn Favorites:

Left to Right, Top to Bottom:

Brown Granny Square Pillow from USS Crafty. You may remember from a couple parties ago, T’onna had shared with us her first Granny Square Pillow. I love the contrast between the two as far as the colors go. Beautiful example of how one pattern can be altered to your liking.

How to Mend Holes Using Crochet Patches from Shimra Designs. What a neat idea! Sometimes I get holes in my clothing, and I just get rid of them but Shimrit has a great solution to holes! I’m thinking even without holes, some patches on the knee area of a pair of pants or elbow area of a long sleeved shirt would be kind of neat. Oh the possibilities.

Rainbow Blanket from My World of Crochet. The moment I saw this blanket, I immediately jumped over to check it out further. While there isn’t a pattern attached, this is such a great inspirational piece! The colors are perfect for Spring, and a great decor piece when not in use.

Bunny Toy from Creative Designs by Sheila Zachariae. Such a cute Bunny Toy for a little one! Made of cotton yarn, this could be a great teether toy. I would probably replace the fiberfill with a teether ring though.
I really love the adorable floppy ears, and faceless face. Just as described by Sheila, “simple and classic”.

Pom Pom Bunny from Ash and Crafts. This is a guest post, so you’ll have to also visit The Crafty Side of Sarcasm. Ashley has a nice photo tutorial showing how to make a circular pom pom, and an oval one too! Simple, and easy. Also a quick project! And ADORABLE! I am so glad she shared it with us – I can’t wait to make my own little bunny.

Lightweight Large Blanket from Lunamon Designs. At first glance, I thought this blanket would match the Brown Granny Square Pillow, but closer up it’s a gray color – still BEAUTIFUL though! Made of a light weigh yarn, I’d say this is also a great Spring make.

Moms Crochet Clutch Purse from A Day in the Life. What a cute little wallet! Complete with pockets for your change, dollars and cards. It is finished with a tie and lacy back. I just love it. Definitely need one of these!

Spring Cowl from Posh Pooch Designs. Sara shows us three ways this Spring Cowl can be worn – very versatile – and with the numerous color combinations, this can be made to anyones liking.

My Philosopher Favorite:

This time in 2013, Rachel was participating in a Crochet Along with One Dog Woof, in which she made these four beautiful cowls. Another nice Spring make.

This Weeks Giveaway is sponsored by The Philosopher’s Wife. One winner will receive the Vintage Flower Collection eBook. This eBook contains crochet patterns for 20 different floral pieces. What a lovely addition to the crochet library for Spring.

Happy Birthday! I just realized that I linked up last weeks project! (my wallet and lipstick case) I don't see the little trash can to delete them. Darn it! Anyway, I was THRILLED when I seen my wallet one of the most clicked. Awesome. Have a great rest of your bday! I appreciate your time and sharing with all of us!

Happy birthday! Thank you again for organising this. I haven't been round as much lately due to extra non crochet work, but I intend to come back now! 🙂

I hate when non crochet work gets in the way 😉 Unless it's fun stuff. Thank you for the birthday wishes, and for joining us this week!

Hi Alexa! When I read your intro I could be you all except the painting and drawing. We could be in the same body. I even have a cat. Reason I am here, I found an easy way to make a button (not for the wallet, the link). It worked for me and I know JUST enough. I thought I would share. Thanks again.
BTW…I love hand written notes. I collect stationary 🙂

You are AWESOME! Thanks! I'll check it out tomorrow. P.S. At first glance at your Google + reply, I thought you were talking about the button on the wallet – haha! But then I kept reading. 😉

Welcome!

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
