Yarn Fanatic Party #38 – String Theory Hand Dyed Yarn Sponsored Giveaway

May 25, 2015

Welcome to the 38th Yarn Fanatic Link Party, and my 21st as co-host, alongside Rachel from The Philosopher’s Wife.

This week I shared my Bubble Dress Crochet Pattern Review.
Pattern by Family Bugs.
My boyfriend, Chad, his brother, Lucas, and I drove down to visit their dads side of the family for the Memorial Day weekend. It’s just under two hours away from us. Their dad, Kirk, held a little party for everyone. He lives in a beautiful house right on a lake. You can see a glimpse of the lake view in the middle, right photo.
It was such a gorgeous day out with a nice breeze, and just enough sun to keep us happy. The large tree in the photos provided lots of shade for us.
A flag was hung from the same large tree. The breeze keep it flying free through the day and into the evening.
And the day was filled with yummy food, family, friends, and cornhole. It’s a popular game with this family – a game I had never heard of until I started coming around to family functions. There were several games played through the day, but none that I took part is as I am terrible at the game. Hehe.

What did you do to celebrate? Leave me a comment below – I’d love to know!

Most Clicked:

From Left to Right, Top to Bottom:

Knit Scarf from Solines Verden. This is such a sweet little fashion scarf. And quick to work up! There is a free pattern attached from Drops. It could easily be made longer if you wanted to continue the pattern.

Sweet Baby Doll Stuffie from Posh Pooch Designs. This Sweet Baby Doll Stuffie is so cute! It was designed as a gift for a little girl who is getting a new sibling soon. It’s a great idea to practice cuddling and holding baby with. And besides that – a great little stuffie for any little girl! I know I had a large amount of baby dolls that I played with as a little girl. Great gift for birthday, Christmas or just because.

Mayflower Candy Sandals from Milena Places. No pattern attached but an adorable pair of baby sandals! I love the addition of the pansy like flower attached to the top.

Wave Carpet from Solines Verden. I am in love with the wave/ripple pattern. I recently started working up blankets using it, and am sure to add many more projects in the future. This rug is a blanket addition! I think above all, I love the random placement of colors. So neat!

EyeLoveKnots Yarn Favorites:

From Left to Right, Top to Bottom:

Wrap Around Baby Shoes from Ginx Craft. These Wrap Around Shoes are so neat! There is a pattern attached for us to purchase. I had added it to my When I Learn to Knit board, since I am love with the knit look but don’t knit (yet). They have a neat texture, and cozy look.

Tuxedo Hat from DiPaul’s Designs. This is such an interesting and fun hat! It’s quite different from anything I have seen. The design is from Creative Threads by Leah, and would make a fun gag gift to a groom-to-be and/or prom.

Small Dog Flag Bandanna from Posh Pooch Designs. These little dogs look so cute wearing their new bandanna’s! I wish my cat would keep one on, I would love to make him one. Hehe. I will be adding this to my list. What fun! AND – free pattern – thanks Sara!

Sofa Union Throw from My World of Crochet. A throw for a section – WOW! The time and patience put into working up this is great! And the finally throw is just beautiful! Very inspirational.

Crochet Hand Warmers from Julie’s Lifestyle. Here’s a fun, easy and quick hand warmers/wristers pattern from Julie! These make great gifts, and are so easy and quick to work up – you can make one in each color!

Star Music Box from Hip Met Haken. This is such a sweet gift for baby! And post includes two free pattern links for us so we can make our own. You could easily add some items hanging down like a mobile from the bottom of the star, or leave as is. So sweet!!

Sophie’s Universe CAL Part 16 from Hakel Fieber. This throw is coming together so nicely! With just two more parts to go – it’s such a beautiful piece full of lovely colors! I really love the solid white band with the little butterfly stitches.

Cacti Embroidery Box from Delineate Your Dwelling. I love how popular cross stitching has become! It’s such a fun craft, and I love the nontraditional way it is going working on chairs, aprons and this neat Cacti Embroidery Box! So cool!! I need to hit up the local thrift stores for something with holes in it so I can make something similar. Very creative, and neat Amy – thanks for sharing!

Chevron IPad Cover from Unique Yarn Designs. Stephanie shares a free crochet pattern for a IPad Cover using the Chevron pattern. I love the look of the chevrons in crochet. Notes are included to make the cover smaller, or larger. You could use the same basic idea to make a cute phone or laptop cozy too!

A Yellow Dress from My World of Crochet. This is such a cute sundress! I have been wanting to make one for myself, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. The adjustable straps is a great idea – I have used this on a dress I made for my little cousin. And the bright yellow color is just lovely! Love it!

Colorful Squares Throw from Rusyena. This is such a lovely post. It is full of gorgeous flowers, and scenery. Such a beautiful day for a picnic, with a handmade blanket to enjoy the lunch on.

My Philosopher Favorite:

I have really been into knit projects lately. I found this I Knit a Baby Sweater post on The Philosopher’s Wife, and have added it to my When I Learn to Knit board on Pinterest. I really would like to learn to knit, and should actually start trying rather than continue to drool over knit projects. Hehe. But knitting needles are much more expensive than crochet hooks, and I am just not ready to invest in it like that. I may see about using the large knitting needles I have on hand to try something with that.

Left to Right, Top to Bottom:
Long Island Worsted in Cyan, Caper Sock in Dark & Stormy, Caper Sock in Melon, Bluestocking in Peacock, Long Island Worsted in Oban, Marshall Island Sport in Twilight, Tinker Island Fingering in Kiwi, Long Island Worsted in Kiwi.
**Keep in mind dye lots are unique – note on the last two above. Both are named “Kiwi” but there is a clear distance. If ordering, make sure to get enough from the yarn dye lot to ensure the least variation.

This Week’s Giveaway is sponsored by STRING THEORY Hand Dyed Yarn, Inc. This is actually going to be a month long giveaway with multiple chances to win – THIS IS THE LAST WEEK TO ENTER!

There are a few things on the Rafflecopter that can be completed daily, like leaving a blog post comment (2 opportunities daily), commenting on a link that’s already been shared by another (1 entry daily), linking up a project (1 entry daily).

One lucky winner will receive a $60 Gift Certificate to the String Theory Hand Dyed Yarn Shop. I know everyone could use a little yarn to add to their stash. We never have enough, isn’t that right?

If you haven’t had the chance to visit the String Theory shop and gallery, head over! The shop tabs are located on the left-hand side of the site. Each is very unique, and has it’s own little story found on the top of each page.
I think my favorite is the Caper Sock – “a luxurious blend 80% merino, 10% cashmere, and 10% nylon, springy with great stitch definition.” Doesn’t that sound amazing?! I would love to try some of this yarn to make a lacy Summer scarf, or perhaps a late Spring/early Fall shawl – what about you?

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
