Orange Cream Pie – Recipe Review – Across the Boulevard

July 17, 2018

Welcome to the July Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by My Pinterventures. The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen! This month, I chose to make a refreshing orange cream pie.

I regularly follow Across the Boulevard, and back in May, Beverly shared an Easy Orange Cream Pie Recipe. When I read “orange cream”, I had to check it out because I just love the refreshing flavor of orange cream. Come to find out, the pie was flavored with Kool-Aid! What?! Genius idea, and really opens the door for so many other flavor possibilities, as well as makes me wonder what else I can flavor with some Kool-Aid.

I will add that while this pie is so creamy and delicious, it is still very sweet so you might want to start with a slightly smaller piece.

Serves:

8 – 10

Time:

15 Minutes to Assemble + 2-3 Hours in the Fridge

Ingredients:

  • 1 8 oz Tube of Whipped Cream
  • 1 14 oz Can of Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 Packet of Orange Flavored Kool Aid
  • Graham Cracker Crust
  • Easy Orange Cream Pie Recipe, Free Recipe from Across the Boulevard

You’ll Also Need:

  • Mixing Bowl & Spoon

Ingredient Notes:

Any flavored powder will work, but I recommend something unsweetened.

Recipe Notes:

This recipe was very straightforward, and perfect!

I will add that the time in the fridge does not really stiffen the pie up anymore than whipped cream in the fridge. The filling reminds me of like a mousse, so I would say the long period in the fridge isn’t essential, but I would keep it in there until ready to serve.

Seeing your post reminded me I pinned this recipe by Bev in May too — I’ve gotta make it this week. Looks wonderful.

That looks so delicious and sounds so easy too! I love quick and easy recipes like this and I agree that the Kool aid would make it quite easy to change flavors. Pinned.

Definitely a great summer pie being no bake, and with the fun orange cream flavor, or even a lemonade/pink lemonade. Mmm… I am wishing I had more pie left, hehe.

For sure! No one wants to stand around a hot oven if they don’t have to. I am thankful to have ac, but I know my family in New Jersey don’t have them, and baking is tough there over the summer.

I love orange cream popsicles so I know I’d love this pie. It looks very easy to make and I bet it’s hard to have just one piece.

When I read “orange cream”, it reminded me of those popsicles that have the vanilla ice cream inside. Is that the popsicles you are referring too? The pie tastes just as good!

I’ve seen similar made with Jell-O but now I’m curious about using Kool Aid. I love orange creme, too. It’s my favorite ice cream on a stick. And don’t get me started about adult beverages 🙂

Mmmmm I haven’t tried any orange cream adult beverages… Will have to now. I am wanting to try this recipe with some jell-o/pudding mix.
