It’s time again for the Inspire My Creativity Challenge! This is a monthly craft blog hop, and each month, there is a different theme. This month’s theme is Something to Wear. If you have a post that fits that theme, feel free to link up too!
Being a crocheter, for this challenge I had about a billion ideas, but I really wanted to do something a little different so I turned back to my first love, plastic canvas, and created some fun little earrings. There are so many color possibilities here! I even used some variegated yarn (you see a little below)!

Materials:
- Small Amount of 7 Mesh Plastic Canvas
- Small Amount of Worsted Weight #4 Yarn – I used Red Heart’s Super Saver in Lemon [Yellow], Charcoal [Gray], Bonbon Print and a Neon Green that I can’t seem to find online
- #18 Tapestry Needle
- Earring Wires – I like to use Stainless Steel Fishhooks
- Jewelry Pliers – I like to use two pairs (one for each hand) when working with jewelry
Time Spent:
20-30 Minutes for a Pair
Measurements:
0.5″ Wide by 1.88″ Tall
Pattern Notes:
For help with stitching, I have a photo tutorial in my Small Plastic Canvas Hearts post.
When opening the loop on your earring wires (or a jump ring), always pull it open towards you (not side to side), and close in the same manner.
Tutorial:
Cut a piece of a plastic canvas 3 holes wide by 12 holes tall (13 holes tall if you want to make it color blocks of two rows). I put together a few combinations above. Please DO NOT PIN this image!
For the bottom color blocking, I worked two rows, and then proceeded to do the respective whipstitching around the rectangle before fastening off.
Then I filled in the rest with a different color. I also worked some in one solid color. You could alternate colors for stripes or larger color blocks – there are endless possibilities here!
Open the loops on the earring wires, and attach to the top center hole of the plastic canvas piece.
This one kind of reminds me of fruit, like a pineapple, with the colors.
This one would be perfect for a mermaid lover.
Enjoy!
Please feel free to make and sell your own Color Block (or Not) Earrings using this pattern, but please DO NOT claim this pattern as your own nor should you sell my pattern, and DO NOT re-publish my photos as your own. DO NOT copy and paste my pattern anywhere, link to it instead.
