Crochet Square Washcloth – Pattern REVIEW – Stitch11

October 20, 2014

I found this cute Square Washcloth pattern while browsing through the free household item patterns on Stitch11. I had some cotton yarn laying around that I got on clearance back around Spring time, and decided to give the pattern a go.

Materials I Used:

  • I skein of Lily Sugar n Cream in Beach Ball Blue
  • H8/5mm Crochet Hook (smaller than recommended)
  • #18 Tapestry Needle for Weaving in Ends
  • Stitch11 Square Washcloth (free crochet pattern)

Material Notes:

Yarn Alternatives: Bernat Handicrafter Yarn, Lion Brand Kitchen Cotton, Crafters Secret Cotton.

With one skein, and the recommended hook size, I was only able to complete one washcloth, this is why I went down a size.

Time Spent:

I was able to work up two washcloths in about an hour.

Measurements:

With I9/5.5mm Hook: 8.5″ Square

With H8/5mm Hook: 7.5″ Square

Pattern Notes:

I really like the look of these washcloths – the four triangles coming together look. According to Corina, this look also allows this washcloth to stretch in all directions so it keeps it’s square shape.

Make a matching pair of facial scrubbies, and this would make a great gift set!

Nice. These would make some pretty coasters too if they’re not too big.

You can always size them down – I plan to because I love square projects – so versatile. I apologize for the delay in responding, but I’ve been buried in Spam Comments – had to work through it all.

Great idea for washcloths and maybe use a rougher yarn for the facial scrubbers. Thank you for sharing on Merry Monday! We hope you will join us again next week!

These make excellent facial scrubbers! I actually have a few pairs I have made myself – feel so nice against the skin. I apologize for the delay in responding, but I’ve been buried in Spam Comments – had to work through it all.

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
