Yarn Fanatic Party #53 – Happy November!

November 3, 2015

Welcome to the 53rd Yarn Fanatic Link Party, and my 36th as co-host, alongside Rachel from The Philosopher’s Wife.

Since our last Yarn Fanatic Party, I have been chugging away on a few projects. Before I get into them, I would like to apologize for not reposting the yarn party the previous Mondays. One of my favorite things is getting the yarn party post ready every week and showcasing all of your lovely projects. I also like having the ability to use it to connect with you all. I have been busy moving though, and quite distracted. Selling a house, and moving all of the stuff out it hard work and so time consuming. 16 years spent in one house, I am sure you can just imagine all of the junk that’s been collected over the years. I will have a little more to share on this with you at a later date, should you be interested in reading my story. Enough excuses, now onto my yarny projects in order of posting.

Women’s Sweet Delight Fingerless Gloves – Free Crochet Pattern
Sunflower Afghan Square – Free Crochet Pattern
This Square was designed for the 2015 Mystery Lapghan CAL.
An updated version of my Baby Granny Square Beanie now in 3 Baby Sizes – Free Crochet Pattern
Whimsical Sashay Cowl – Free Crochet Pattern
Designed for the Holiday Stashdown CAL 2015.

From Left to Right, Top to Bottom:

Fall is Here Crochet Skirt from Van Dani – Crochet Inspiration. I would say I spend a big part of my Pinteresting looking at women’s clothing and tablescapes. This skirt is definitely one that would catch my eye, and is a great inspiration piece! Though there isn’t a pattern included, looking at the photos it seems pretty simple to work out. I will be returning to this piece.

Big in Japan from Van Dani – Link to Crochet Pattern Included. I just love the charcoal color paired with the mint colored yarn in this Shawl. Paired with the matching hat and floral embellishment, I am sure this will be a very well received gift this holiday season.

Diamond Cowl from Wife, Mummy, Nurse – Link to Knitting Pattern Included. This cowl is so pretty! I really like the look of filet-like projects in reference to the diamond pattern creating this cowl. According to Sarah, the pattern is fairly easy. I think I will be adding it to my When I Learn to Knit board, which I think I am actually getting closer to going through.

Pouring Your Heart into a Pattern from Crochet Is the Way – Crochet & Life Inspiration. This is such a touching piece from one of our regulars here at the Yarn Fanatic Party. If you haven’t been over to visit the Crochet is the Way blog, you definitely should! Jenny has such great projects she shares, and even better stories like the one shared in this post. Pop on by and share your support please!

EyeLoveKnots Yarn Favorites:

From Left to Right, Top to Bottom:

Poncho with Matching Cuffs from Hakelfieber – Crochet Inspiration. This is such a cute set! It’s worked in some of my favorite colors – I just love earthy tones! Plus a combination of granny square like motifs. This piece shows great versatility for those afghan squares you just don’t want to turn into another pillow or blanket. The cuffs go really well over Sandra’s boots – in a non-traditional boot cuff way – but I love the idea! It’s like having leg warmers on, but for your boots. It gives me lots of ideas now for other ‘boot warmers’.

Scrappy Granny Stripe from Colletta’s Kitchen Sink – Crochet Inspiration. This is a great project to work on with yarn from your stash! Take a break from spending money on yarn and trying to match colors at the yarn shop, clear out some space in your crafting area by using stash yarn and scraps. This would also make a fun gift to give this holiday season.

Field of Flowers Hat from Chaleur Life – Free Crochet Pattern. This is one pretty hat! It combines such pretty colors with one of my favorite flowers – the Tulip! Free Pattern included for Child Size, but the pattern looks easy enough to adjust stitches to make in any size. This would be a beautiful hat to work up for the upcoming Spring season, or any special little girl at any time for sure.

Finished Summer into Fall Afghan from Kat Kat Katoen – Crochet Inspiration. I showcased the process of this afghan a few weeks ago in the Yarn Fanatic Party #48, but now that it’s finished – it’s even more beautiful! I am in love with the colors and beautiful pattern. I have trouble being able to let go and work with random colors, but it looks so nice when I see it done!

Curtain with Leaves from Kat Kat Katoen – Crochet Inspiration. My mom loves to use lace in place of curtains. Seeing this curtain made me think of her, and how much she’d love to receive a curtain made like this. Being that we’re moving, I think I will add this to my list to go back and work up something similar as a gift to her.

Ballet Leg Warmers from Muff’in Dome – Link to Free Knitting Pattern Included. It’s always nice to ‘hear’ from new fellow yarn crafters. I really enjoyed scrolling down and seeing the photos of these leg warmers in use, and through the most recent blog posts in general from Muff’in Dome. Though they are not yarn related, it’s refreshing and fun. Welcome Laurel! And thanks for sharing with us! Aside from that, I know a couple little girls who would love to receive some of these this holiday season to go with their dancing outfits 🙂

Cuatro Esquinas de Abuela Afghan Square from Shelf Reading – Link to Free Crochet Pattern Included. Call me biased, but I could not help showcasing someone else’s version of one of my own crochet patterns! It came out really well in the three colors, and I really like the look of the slip stitches around the edges. I like how clean slip stitches make projects look, but it’s so hard going back and working into them later so I don’t usually use them, but it frames the square nicely.

Red Wine Shawl from Atelier Marie-Lucienne – Crochet Inspiration. This is a great example of how things usually work themselves out even when we think they won’t! In yarn terms, no need to frog that project or stick it with the rest of the lost WIPS because you ran out of the color, experiment with new colors! I am sure Marjan never thought she’d combine the lime green and pink with the claret, but it came together to create a really pretty shawl.

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
