Welcome to the 54th Yarn Fanatic Link Party, and my 37th as co-host, alongside Rachel from The Philosopher’s Wife.
Happy 2016 Everyone! It appears I am late to my own party, but I got caught up with errands yesterday and after the gym just did not have it in me to get this finalized.
Did you do anything fun and exciting to bring in the New Year? I had to work New Years Eve and boy was it busy! I rushed home to see my boyfriend Chad, but he had gotten stuck at work too. I ended up bringing in the New Year with my cat, Shiloh – fair trade.
This party is chalk full of goodies! But a long one (as I think all of mine are). Grab your coffee now and put the slippers on – get comfortable and have fun! Thanks for joining us! And welcome back!
Before I share what I have been working on, I would like to share my excitement with you on my first exclusive design being published in the Happily Hooked Magazine!!!!!!!!!!! You can catch a peak down below in the Giveaway section, and make sure to enter for a chance to win the issue (and others)!
Since our last party I have shared the following projects. They are shown in the order of appearance, newest being last:
Most Clicked:
Rowan Hat from Lunamon Design – Knitting Inspiration from Personal Pattern. I really love the teal color paired with the fun cable across the brim of this hat. It’s so neat to me how changing one simple thing as making a more elaborate brim on a basic beanie completely changes the piece.
Love it! May just have to order myself one.
Northern Lights Dress and Intarsia Knitting from Ginx Craft – Knitting Inspiration. This little dress is so sweet with the polar bear walking through the snow. The dark blue color for the dress itself is a gorgeous tone for this project, and definitely adds to the feeling of being out on a cold winter night. Though there isn’t a pattern available for this dress – YET – Ginny shares with us a program she plans on using to share future projects. I am going to have to check it out for graph patterns.
Does anyone else have any programs they use for designing patterns?
Christmas Tree Wreath Ornament from Creative Crochet Toys. Joanita designed this wreath ornament as part of the 31 Days of Handmade Christmas Ornament Blog Hop. There are some really fun ornaments on there! Make sure to scroll down to the bottom of this point for the complete list and link up.
I like that this wreath is made like a donut – hehe. It can easily be stuffed, and decor changed to become a different type of ornament – not just a donut, but a tire and lifesaver also come to mind. What fun Joanita! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Did anyone else make ornaments for your own tree or to gift? I know I personally participated in two ornament exchanges, and gave crocheted ornaments to all of my friends and family this year.
Kreisel Fingerless Gloves from Knitting And So On – Free Crochet Pattern. What a great accessory to add to your cold weather wardrobe and what better pair to start with than “these stylish and unique fingerless gloves”? They start off in the round and spread from there. These look like so much fun to make, and wear. There are lots of photos and details to help you finish your own pair, as well as a bunch of good photo ideas should you be thinking, ‘how can I photograph my own pair of gloves’?
They’re definitely going on my list to create, how about you? Or are you busy working up a bunch of different gloves? Share your links and photos below!
Quick and Easy Crocheted Slippers from Little Shop of Treasures – Semi-Crochet Review, Link Included. These slippers come from the Starlight Women’s Slippers, a Free Crochet Pattern from My Hobby is Crochet. With a little adjusting, Darlene had a fun pair of boot slippers for her granddaughter. I love the combination of the cool, fun turquoise color paired with the bold red embellishments. Love ’em!
Has anyone else tried any projects using the Star Stitch? I attempted it once before and couldn’t get my rows to come out straight so I frogged it, and haven’t returned yet. Any tips?
EyeLoveKnots Yarn Favorites:
I had A LOT of favorites from the Yarn Fanatic Party #53, but I just can’t share them all… today… Hehe. I am breaking them up and featuring them through the month since this party will last through the end of the month. First up, 5 Yarn-tastic Hats!
Thick Mesh Beanie from Meladora’s Creations – Free Crochet Pattern & Video. This beanie is another that has made it onto my list. The pattern is available in Baby to Adult sizes, and includes a photo tutorial as well as link to video. I really love the color effect of the yarn and pattern together.
Hood/Haube from Haekelfieber – Crochet Pattern Review. This is a great take on the City Girl Hat from The Hooked Haberdasher. Honestly, I can’t remember if I have already shared this or if it’s scheduled to be shared but I fell in love with this hat the minute I first saw it as part of the 12 Weeks of Christmas CAL. It reminds me of sometime in the past, and looks like it’s in need of a coat and muff, plus the matching Boot Cuffs of course. Love it, and glad to read that it’s easy to work up.
Ellen Hat from Lunamon Design – Paid Knitting Pattern. Of course, the pattern and pink against the turquoise caught my eye right away. This hat is described as being a “joy and pleasure to knit”, as from my interpretation is that there is no issues with yarn tangling which is definitely a win in my book. It has a really neat spiral on the crown of the hat too! Once I learn to knit – WHICH I WANT TO SO BAD – I will definitely be attempting this.
Whimsical Penelope Slouch Hat from Simply Collectible Crochet – Free Crochet Pattern. If you follow me on Facebook, you have already seen me share this hat pattern. It’s constructed in a neat manner, where the floral pattern is very distinct in the use of the post stitches, and then it goes into a fun, unusual pattern for the base of the hat as well. The pattern and colors are equally beautiful and eye catching. It’s already on my list, and pinned a few times.
Diana Newsboy Hat from Divine Debris – Free Crochet Pattern. Both Child and Adult sizes are included in this pattern, and worked in bulky yarn you know it’ll be done quickly. You can easily work up a matching mommy and me hat set and wear it out that evening! Beautiful stitch pattern and color combo!
Special Mention:
If any of you follow A Day In My Life, you know Crystal has been battling a tough fight, the big “C”. It makes me very happy to see what she is working on, not only because she picks such an interesting variety of projects to try and projects that I would pick for myself, but because it fills me with happiness to see that she is pushing forward and making moves with her craft even though she isn’t feeling the greatest. So many of us have excuses as to why we can’t or why there isn’t enough time or use the word “someday” a lot. It’s a new year, and time to start making moves. Thanks for the inspiration, Crystal!
These Awesome Breastforms that you see above are created by a group of women to give back the curves to women who have had a mastectomy or lumpectomy. They are free to women who have had these surgeries, you can order them from this great organization, or if you are a crocheter or knitter, you can join as an Awesome Volunteer! They are currently accepting applications!
