Snowcapped Cowl & Beanie and Knotions Magazine November 2017

November 25, 2017

My Snowcapped Cowl and Beanie can both be found in this month’s November 2017, Knotions Magazine, along side nine other designs perfect for the upcoming winter season.

This was my first time working with Knotions Magazine. I tested a crochet pattern for one of my friend’s not too long ago, and found out she was submitting it to the magazine. Once published, I checked it out, and decided to look into submitting myself. If you aren’t familiar with Knotions Magazine, it is a monthly knitting and crochet online magazine which you can view for FREE!

I finished this Snowcapped Cowl and Beanie set a while ago, and was holding onto it to either send in for publication, or post on the blog this Winter. When I found a call for Winter Themed projects for Knotions Magazine, I decided to send them in, and was so excited to have them accepted.

I used Red Heart’s With Love in the colors Tan and White from my stash, but you could use any color combo, or one solid color. You can work the set with one full skein of your main color, and a little of a coordinating color for the ribbing, or you can work a cowl or multiple beanies in just one solid color.

I really love the soft, squishy feel of the With Love yarn, but it works in any respective yarn. I worked a second set up in Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn, adding two stitches to the cowl base, and one extra puff stitch in the hat’s beginning ring, and was able to complete both with the same amount of yarn, and produce the same measurements. An alternative to the I Love This Yarn would be Berroco’s Vintage Yarn, which is a fantastic yarn, and a step up in quality!

The November 2017 Issue Also Features…

These Knitting Patterns:
     – Study Break Shawl by Emily Connell
     – Astrid Blouse by Alexis Di Gregorio
     – Sinatra Pullover by Joanna Booth
     – Clarita Cowl by Brigitte Sapience
     – Center Street Pullover by Candon Leopold
     – Gifts of the Magi Ornaments by Ranee Mueller of Arabian Knits
     – Horse Track Wrap by Nazanin Fard
     – Autumn Cornucopia Shawl by Yvonne Becker

This Crochet Pattern:
     – Walter the Walrus by Kati Brown

A few of my favorites include the Astrid Blouse (top left), the Center Street Pullover (top right), the Study Break Shawl (bottom left), and the Autumn Cornucopia Shawl (bottom right)!

I love it! My daughter has been asking for a new beanie, and this may be just perfect (though I probably will have to make in in pink or purple). Thank you for sharing at The Really Crafty Link Party. Pinned!

Pink and purple are fun colors too! I plan on working up some others colors later too, and experimenting with pom poms and elf hat tails.

Thanks! I will admit, I was already about halfway done with the cowl when I thought of adding the white ribbed part, and I am so glad I did because it really makes it a fun and unique piece and compliment to the hat. Glad you liked it too!

Welcome!

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
