I have been wanting to work up this washcloth ever since I finished my C2C Apple Washcloths last year. I got the push I needed this year when I signed up for the Fall Favorites Blog Hop.
Acorns are perfect for Fall decorating, or for a Rustic/Woodland themed home. These washcloths don’t use much yarn, so it would be great for stashbusting, or holiday prepping. Alternatively, you can use it as an afghan block!

Materials:
- 80 Yards of Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn – I used Lily Sugar n Cream in the Ecru [Cream], and Warm Brown colorways, and Crafters Secret in Taupe
- H8/5mm Crochet Hook for Lily Sugar n Cream
- I9/5.5mm Crochet Hook for Crafters Secret
- Tapestry Needle for Weaving in Ends
- Optional, Jewelry Pliers
Material Notes:
Yarn Alternatives: WeCrochet Dishie, Bernat Handicrafter, Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran, Rico Creative Cotton Aran.
Jewelry pliers are an excellent tool to use to help weave in ends, as cotton yarn can be quite tough on the fingers when weaving in with just fingers and a tapestry needle.
Note that two crochet hooks are mentioned with the respective yarn. If you combine the two like I did, they do require slightly different hook sizes to keep the same size.
Time Spent:
I finished my washcloth in about an hour and a half.
Measurements:
8.5″ Square
Gauge:
With Lily Sugar n Cream and H8/5mm Hook: 16 HDC by 10 Rows = 4″
Abbreviations:
- SC – Single Crochet (Photo Tutorial)
Pattern Notes:
A box is comprised of four double crochets.
This washcloth grows from the bottom right corner to the top left corner. Graph has the even rows marked.
In Border, chain 1 does not count as a stitch, and join to the first single crochet.
This pattern is written with colors and boxes only. If you would like more details on how to work the corner to corner technique, and the basic shape of this washcloth – visit my Basic C2C Washcloth pattern, and follow the instructions for the small size.
Regarding Bobbins… I did not create a bobbin for this washcloth, but I had two skeins on hand of my base color (cream), so I just worked with two of those skeins at once. If you don’t have two of your base color, you can either work from both sides of your skein, or you can create a second ball to use. I do have a photo tutorial showing How to Hand Wind Scrap Yarn Into a Center Pull Ball.
Work color changes in the final yarn over of the last stitch. For help, see my How to Change Yarn Colors in Crochet the EyeLoveKnots Way. Drop old color to the back for now.
Acorn Graph:
As a blogger, I rely on views to my blog to earn money from my ads. Please do NOT share my graph photo, or save to Pinterest. Doing so, would allow makers to not have to return to my blog, which would result in a loss of views and income.

Fasten Off.
Ends:
Use your crochet hook to pull all of your ends to the wrong side of the washcloth – technically, any side can be the right or wrong side because turning is done at the end of each row, I look to the first boxed worked to determine my right side. Weave in ends.

Such a fun seasonal crochet project! Thanks so much for sharing on craft schooling Sunday!
By the way, one of the the things I noticed in Sweden is that crocheted pot holders are a “thing”, so stay tuned for my sharing of the ones I photographed there……but first Succot, well first Yom Kippur, and then a week of festivities!
Alexandra says
I always look forward to seeing your posts! Will be neat to see what the trend is over there.
Marie says
This is so cute and would make great gifts!
Alexandra says
Yes, definitely! For the holidays, I like to gift things like a cooking magazine, new kitchen item like a spatula, and something fun like this washcloth. They are so fun to put together, and always go over well.
