20 Cozy Touch of Alpaca Free Crochet Patterns

January 11, 2021

20 Cozy Free Crochet Patterns that use Touch of Alpaca Yarn.

This post contains affiliate links for Lion Brand Yarns & LoveCrafts. If you make a purchase by clicking on them, I make a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thanks for your support!

A couple years ago, I designed the Tessellated Triangles Sweater, and really enjoyed using Lion Brand’s Touch of Alpaca for it. I purchased Oxford Grey, Blush and Aster Purple for the sweater, and ended up only using the pink and purple, so I ended up with quite a bit of gray left, plus the pink and purple leftovers. I later found a sale at my local JoAnn’s, and picked up the Goldenrod colorway for a warm scarf. I had only started a swatch for the scarf when I saw an Instagram post from Coco.Crochet.Lee saying that Touch of Alpaca had been discontinued. So sad because it’s such a lovely, warm, soft yarn!

As I was going through my yarn stash last week, I pulled out all of the Touch of Alpaca I had, and decided to put together this fun collection of patterns that used Touch of Alpaca, and run a giveaway (at the bottom of this post).

If you’re interested in purchasing this yarn, it is still in stock on both Lion Brand’s site, and LoveCrafts site.

Now, Let’s See Those Great Patterns!

On to the Giveaway!

One winner will receive a large box of Touch of Alpaca Yarn from me! This includes 4 skeins of Oxford Grey, 3 1/3 skeins of Blush, 2 partial skeins of Aster Purple and 2 skeins of Goldenrod. You may find a swatch attached that can be frogged.

If you’re interested in purchasing this yarn, it is still in stock on both Lion Brand’s site, and LoveCrafts site.

This yarn is 207 yards of worsted weight (#4), and the fiber content is 90% Acrylic 10% Alpaca.

Special Note: I have two cats. They do not mingle with my yarn, but you may find cat hairs on the yarn you receive – it’s hard to avoid.

International Makers: I always like to include everyone! If you are outside the US, you can still enter to win, but you will receive a digital gift from me (valued at $15 equal to roughly the same price for shipping of a medium flat rate box).

I included several ways to enter (through the Rafflecopter below). To be entered in the giveaway, you only need to complete one task, but the more you do, the better your chances. Some of them you can come back and do again once a day! Last time to enter will be Sunday 01/24/21 at 11:59pm EST.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Must be 18 years or older to enter. Open to all countries. Void where prohibited. Winner has 48 hours to respond to email notification, or another winner will be chosen. Alexandra (that’s me!) of EyeLoveKnots is responsible for fulfilling remaining prizes.

I like that yarn, I have used it before to make scarves and it’s so soft and has a great color selection.

What a lovely selection of patterns and a shame the yarn is being discontinued. We’ll have to find substitutes once it’s all gone!

While it’s not alpaca, I do really enjoy Lion Brand Wool Ease. I wish there were more color options but as far as durable, soft and cozy – it checks the boxes, and drapes nicely too. What’s your go-to yarn over there?

I love working with this yarn. I made my son one of the huge blanket scarves last Christmas in the hunter/forest green color, not sure if that’s the actual color name and a matching hat with the ear flaps and all to match. It had some of the diamond pattern crochet in it. He loves it and loves the yarn. So
I would love to have more of this yarn and to make some of these patterns you have gathered up. Thanks for the opportunity.

Beautiful yarn but a better round up of some great patterns, some of which I’ve never seen. Any yarn with alpaca has to be buttery!

Would you say that Touch of Alpaca is more like a bulky 5 weight?

No. It’s a lighter worsted weight yarn similar to Red Heart Soft, Premier Yarn Everday, Lion Brand Heartland, Berroco Vintage, etc. Not as thick as I Love This Yarn or Red Heart With Love.

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
