Yarn Fanatic Linky Party #26 – EyeLoveKnots Giveaway

March 2, 2015

Welcome to the 26th Yarn Fanatic Link Party, and my nineth as co-host, alongside Rachel from The Philosopher’s Wife.

I have been bad and not shared any projects this week – YIKES!

I have worked on a crochet slouch hat that I was pattern testing for Rhelena of CrochetN’Crafts that I will be sharing just as soon as the pattern goes live.

I also have a set of baby hats that I completed and will be sharing as a crochet pattern review from Crochet by Jennifer, with some matching diaper covers as WIPS, and a matching blanket in my mind to start soon.

And non-yarn related, I have three pairs of earrings and a necklace tutorial to share that aren’t just quite ready.

On a sad note, I received some new this week that one of my uncle’s was diagnosed with terminal cancer. It really has left me unmotivated to do much of anything.
I have been brainstorming a little though on ways I could do my part to help out, and will soon be launching a new Section in my EyeLoveKnots Etsy shop as well as sharing patterns, reviews and craft tutorials for themed items – undecided yet – that will benefit my Uncle and Aunt to help with medical costs and such.
If you have any ideas – I would love to hear them! Please share them in the comments space, or feel free to email me.

VERY HAPPY NOTE: Before I go into things, I am happy to say that ALL of the link ups received clicks last week’s Yarn Fanatic Link Party #25. That makes me sooooo happy! Thanks to everyone for all of the participation, and comments. It wouldn’t be a party without YOU, and I want to thank you for taking out the time to party and share amongst all of us.

On with the Goodies!

Most Clicked:

From Left to Right:
Doris-ish Mittens from Lunamon Design. Monica did a great job on these Doris-ish Mittens. I love the combination of the bright red, with the soothing gray color. This post includes the link to the paid knit pattern she used for these.

Ice Cream Coasters from Lunamon Design. This granny square-ish coaster is adorable! This coaster is what originally led me to Lunamon Design, and she even provides us with a free crochet pattern! No need to hit the translate button in this one, Monica has included english translations for us.
I love the blue version of this coaster you can find in the post. It’s of a nice, wintery color scheme, and shows the beauty of this pattern in another set of colors.

Two of the Most Clicked projects from Lunamon Design – Congrats Monica!

Crochet Shawl from Over the Apple Tree. What a beautiful Shawl Laura has worked up here! While this project does not have the pattern attached, it does have a suggestion for a similar crochet pattern. This is a great post showing how you can photograph a shawl, and includes beautiful close up’s of this gorgeous, lacy shawl.

Yarn Favorites:

From Left to Right, Top to Bottom:

Evan’s Cowl and Hood from The Fur Babies Momma. This dog looks so precious in this hooded cowl! I wish my cat, Shiloh, was more willing to model for me as this dog! Link included to purchase the crochet pattern. All proceeds are donated to one of two no-kill cat and dog shelters. Good deal!

Sunflower Sun Hat from Oui Crochet. What an adorable little hat! Anyone still battling with the snow? Crochet up one of these to warm and brighten up your day! Free Pattern included for Child Size. Would be easy to adjust for any size by adjusting the basic beanie portion. Grab some cotton yarn and get started!

Newborn Baby Booties from Hooks, Lines and Singers. I LOVE these booties! I have been looking at some of these booties, but all of the patterns I have found are for knit, and so I only crochet (for now), I just admired them. Link to free crochet pattern, but great tips in this post on how to adjust to avoid floppiness.

Flamingo Style from The Friendly Red Fox. How cute is this hat?! I LOVE it! Clever and cute. Free Crochet Pattern include for sizes Newborn through Adult, with hat, feet, and beak.
Kali has some other really cute free crochet patterns, including this Little Pony Hat. Visit her and share the love!

Crochet Cable Beret from Kiku Corner. I have really been into cabled and front/back post patterns lately. I just can’t get enough of the knit look. I really want to learn to knit but it looks so intimidating. For now, I’ll be sticking to patterns such as this Cable Beret – a Free Crochet Pattern. Another great part about this pattern? Works up in less than 1 skein of DK yarn! Yay! Gather your supplies, and get to work. Spring is right around the corner, and you’ll need your beret in your Spring Accessory collection πŸ™‚

Crochet Granny Square Pillow from USS Crafty. I am a sucker for anything made from the ever-so-popular granny square pattern. What I think I love most about this pillow (other than it being a pillow!) is the change brought to the classic granny. It includes a circular center featuring a puff stitch border and the traditional granny square edge around each square. I’m torn in how I would categorize it – floral-like? Regardless, love it! Can’t wait to see the other one that will accompany this one when it’s done!

Felted Cookies from Adventures At Tiny Toadstool Cottage. Um, gingerbread cookies year round? Yes please! Made for her daughter’s play kitchen, they will be enjoying a delicious variety of cookies at their tea parties.
Oops, did you forget the tea for the party? Make sure to check out her fabric tea bag tutorial!

Double Helix Mitts from Knitting and So On. How neat are these?! Free Knitting Pattern with photo’s included. If I could knit, these would be at the top of the list.

My Philosopher Favorite:

I have really been in crochet flowers lately. I can’t get enough of them! I keep pinning to my Flowers board, but need to actually take out some yarn and a hook and get started! While browsing through some of Rachel’s older posts, I found this Crochet Rose Brooch. I love it! Pinned.

This Week’s Giveaway is sponsored by ME! Alexandra of EyeLoveKnots! I will be giving one green mug, a skein of Lily Sugar n Cream in Yellow, an H8/5mm Crochet Hook, some Tapestry Needles, a strip of buttons, an a box of Swiss Miss hot chocolate along with the PDFs for the Slanted Shell Mug Cozy and Shell Shell Coasters so you can put together your own Crochet Mug Cozy Set!

The Frilly Dress is one of my favorite crochet pieces too! I am working on a red one for a friend, and have decided on attempting a similar tank top for myself. Will be posting my progress and pattern as I get to it.

Welcome!

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden orΒ re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
