April showers bring May flowers! I wanted to make something quick but cute for Mother’s Day gifts and my search led me to these flower coasters. They could also be strung together to make a garland or crocheted with two strands together to make it thick enough to be a trivet. There are a number of possibilities for what you could do with these adorable flowers!

I opted to stick with the coaster for my gifts since time is running out leading up to Mother’s Day and these work up fast and easy.

WHAT MATERIALS DO I NEED TO CROCHET A FLOWER COASTER?

  • Red Heart Super Saver in Bright Yellow & Dark Orchid
  • Size G6/4mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Flower Coaster, Paid Crochet Pattern from GreeneCraftsStore via Etsy

MATERIAL NOTES:

This pattern uses worsted weight yarn and it’s a great stash buster! I enjoyed making something that was back to basics with simple stitches, a hook, and some yarn.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CROCHET A FLOWER COASTER?

One coaster takes 35 minutes from start to finish, including weaving in ends. Told you they are fast!

MEASUREMENTS:

The dimensions given in the pattern are 5.3”. Mine ended up being 5.75” wide.

GAUGE:

There was no gauge given and due to the way the stitches are done, I wasn’t sure how to provide a gauge of my own. This pattern is a relatively open pattern (meaning there are a number of holes) so there isn’t a clear way to measure out an area to compare gauge to.

PATTERN NOTES:

This pattern really is fast, easy, and adorable! Given how simple the pattern is to do, I feel like the flowers still look intricate and dainty. Especially if they were made in a finer yarn, to be a doily.

Overall, this is a great pattern and if you’re looking for a pattern with a lot of options, this is an awesome one!

Welcome!

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
