I recently shared a remake of my C2C Enamored Heart Washcloth, and while I was working on it, I had this vision for a slightly larger heart with a smaller heart inside, and I came up with this fun design.
This corner to corner pattern is worked in half double crochets, which allows for less space between each square which makes for a sturdier, more functional washcloth, but you still get the great texture of the corner to corner stitch pattern, and ease in creating the graphic.
If you’re new to corner to corner or need a refresher, I have a photo tutorial for C2C in HDC.
I found the paper doilies, sour cherry candies and wooden heart shape at my local Dollar Tree.

Materials:
- 78 (99) Yards of Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn
- H8/5mm Crochet Hook
- Tapestry Needle
- Optional, Jewelry Pliers
Material Notes:
For the Small size, I used Crafters Secret Cotton in Rose Quartz (24 yards) and Bordeaux (7 yards), and Lily Sugar n Cream in Ecru (47 yards); For the Medium size, I used Lily Sugar n Cream in Red (24 yards), Rose Pink (7 yards) and Ecru (68 yards).
Yarn Alternatives: WeCrochet Dishie, Bernat Handicrafter, Red Heart’s Smoothie, Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran, Rico Creative Cotton Aran.
Hook: For Lily Sugar n Cream, I used an H8/5mm crochet hook, and for Crafters Secret Cotton, I used an I9/5.5mm crochet hook.
Jewelry pliers are an excellent tool to use to help weave in ends, as cotton yarn can be quite tough on the fingers when weaving in with just fingers and a tapestry needle.
Time Spent:
- Small: 1 hour, 25 minutes
- Medium: 1 hour, 45 minutes
Measurements:
- Small: 7.75″ Square
- Medium: 9.13″ (or 1/8″) Square
Gauge:
7 Squares = 4 1/16″
Abbreviations (US Terms)
- HDC – Half Double Crochet (Photo Tutorial)
- SC – Single Crochet (Photo Tutorial)
- C2C – Corner to Corner (HDC Photo Tutorial)
Pattern Notes:
A box is comprised of three half double crochets.
This washcloth grows from the bottom right corner to the top left corner.
This pattern is written with colors and boxes only. If you would like more details on how to work the corner to corner technique, check out my Corner to Corner in Half Double Crochet Photo Tutorial.
For the border, you want to work your chain 1 loosely so the finished washcloth will lay flat. If you crochet tightly, I recommend going up one hook size for the border only, otherwise it will cup.

Ends:
Use your crochet hook to pull all of your ends to the wrong side of the washcloth – technically, any side can be the right or wrong side because turning is done at the end of each row, I look to the first boxed worked to determine my right side. Weave in ends.

I think so too! I was a little concerned about sharing heart washcloths so “late”, but then I started thinking as you said – they’re great for so many other things besides Valentine’s. Sometimes I get caught up in the season.

I love this! Thanks for sharing!
I can see making a blanket out of it or maybe even a wall hanging just by changing the yarn and joining a bunch of them together.

Happy to share! Definitely loads of possibilities for use! I feel I don’t have enough time for all the ideas I have, hehe.
