This is a free crochet pattern for how to crochet the Taryn Washcloth in 3 sizes. Taryn features the tunisian simple stitch with a purled edging, and is great in the bathroom, kitchen or as part of a pampering spa gift.

Nothing beats the feeling of handmade washcloths. They are great for washing dishes with, and also feel fantastic against the skin in the shower. If you’re looking for a gift, work up a set of three, and wrap with a bow, or place in a spa themed gift basket with a Taryn Soap Cozy.
If you’re looking for a dinner idea for tonight, try my Mushroom Chicken Pasta Skillet recipe. It’s a quick and easy chicken pasta skillet with cream of mushroom soup (I always keep these stocked in my pantry, how about you?).

Materials:
- 50 (77, 92) Yards of Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn – I used WeCrochet Dishie in Clementine
- H8/5mm Tunisian Crochet Hook
- Tapestry Needle
- Optional, Jewelry Pliers
Material Notes:
Yarn Alternatives: Lily Sugar n Cream, Red Heart’s Smoothie
Hook: I have the Clover Set of Interchangeable Bamboo Tunisian Hooks, but you can also buy just the interchangeable hook and the 16″ interchangeable cord
Weaving in ends of a tough yarn, like cotton yarn, can be hard on the fingers. Sore thumbs and frustration can be a thing of the past by simply using jewelry pliers to [carefully] help pull the tapestry needle through the work.
Time Spent:
I worked up the medium size in just under 2.25 hours.
Measurements with Border:
- Small – 5.88″ (or 5 7/8″)
- Medium – 8.13″ (or 8 1/8″)
- Large – 8.13″ (or 8 1/8″) wide by 10.38″ (or 10 3/8″) tall
Gauge:
17 TSS by 17 Rows (forward pass + return pass = 1 row) = 4.13″
Abbreviation (US Terms):
- TSS – Tunisian Simple Stitch (the forward pass)

Thanks, Rhondda! I like the built in edging too. Not something that always comes to mind, but when it does, I wonder why I don’t do it more often. Hehe!
