Fidget toys are nothing new, but when I came across this fidget toy pattern, I was drawn to it for a couple specific reasons: when the bobbles “pop” it is quiet. I know that the satisfying popping sound can be part of the allure to the traditional toys, but when the kids (or grown-ups, if we are being honest) need something to tinker with but sound isn’t appropriate, this is an excellent alternative. I also like that it has a different texture than smooth silicone. It’s still soft yet coarse; great for those with sensory-seeking needs.
I have two young kids and when they saw these, they loved them! It was familiar enough that they knew what it was, but they liked how it differed from the regular pop toys they have.
These are small enough to add to a keychain to attach to keys or a backpack but still large enough to achieve the desired fidget effect!

WHAT MATERIALS DO I NEED TO CROCHET A FIDGET TOY?
- Worsted Weight #4 Yarn – I used Red Heart Super Saver in Spring Green and Light Raspberry
- G6/4mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Bobble Pop Fidget Toy, Paid Crochet Pattern from TorreyaTreasures on Etsy
MATERIAL NOTES:
These fidget toys are made with worsted weight yarn. This is an excellent scrap buster project too! However, I do not recommend using another weight or type of yarn for this. I don’t believe it would turn out properly if you did.
You can use a larger hook (within reason) to achieve a larger toy or to achieve the same gauge as this project
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CROCHET A FIDGET TOY?
One toy took me only 25 minutes to complete, including weaving in the ends. It is a very simple, repetitive pattern that can be worked very quickly. This is one of those projects that is great to do while catching up on your favorite shows!
MEASUREMENTS:
The measurements for the toy are 4 inches by 4.5 inches. Mine turned out smaller at 3 inches by 3.5 inches. This is due to my tension and even though I used two colors of the same brand of yarn, one turned out about a quarter of an inch larger all around than the other which goes to show the inconsistencies that sometimes occur in yarn batches.
GAUGE:
The pattern uses the finished product measurements as the gauge since you essentially making swatches with bobble stitches in the middle.
PATTERN NOTES:
This is the ultimate beginner pattern that results in a cute and versatile product! The pattern is very simple and easy to follow. The designer also gives step by step photos with diagrams and a description of how to complete the bobble stitch.
The designer has also graciously provided a template for the adorable description tag that can be attached to the toys for use in craft fairs or when given as a gift.
I highly recommend this pattern. The toy makes a great Christmas stocking or Easter basket stuffer, student gift or for use in waiting rooms!
