Easy Apple Wreath – Free Crochet Pattern

September 4, 2021

This is a free crochet pattern for how to crochet an easy and simple apple themed wreath for Fall decorating.

Find the free crochet pattern instructions below, or purchase a printer-friendly, ad-free PDF on Ravelry by clicking here.

With Fall right around the corner, I am completely in the mood for decorating so I started with a simple and easy Apple Wreath. I thought it was going to be too bland and lacking things, but I actually love the way it turned out!

This Apple Wreath is perfect as Fall, classroom and Farmhouse decor. It even works for a kids room or baby shower that is farm themed!

I have really been trying to not buy new supplies, but use up what I already have. I am pretty proud to say that all my supplies came from my stash, so this project did not cost me a thing! Score!

I will say this is a project post, but the actual patterns have been previously published on my blog, so I will be linking to them (so Google doesn’t penalize me for duplicate information).

AD-FREE, PRINTER FRIENDLY PDF:

If you would like a PDF version of this post, you may get one through either my EyeLoveKnots Etsy Shop, Ravelry or LoveCrafts Shop for a small fee. This fee is to compensate for the views lost when you no longer need to return to the blog to for the information, as you will have your own copy. Plus! It helps fund supplies for new projects to share with you!

Materials:

  • 225 Yards of Worsted Weight Yarn – I used Red Heart’s Super Saver in Cherry Red 192 Yards (cover), Coffee 11 Yards (hanger), and a small amount of Tea Leaf (leaves)
  • H8/5mm Crochet Hook
  • Tapestry Needle
  • 12″ Styrofoam Wreath Base – I used a green one I found at Dollar Tree
  • Hot Glue Gun and Sticks OR sewing pins.

Material Notes:

Yarn Alternatives: Bernat’s Super Value Yarn, Caron’s One Pound.

Originally, the plan was to hot glue the leaves to the wreath hanger, but I was using some sewing pins to map out where I wanted the leaves to be, and I fell in love with the look. I also like the idea of the leaves being removable so I can easily use the wreath form base and hanger again. If I were going to sell this wreath or gift it, I would definitely have glued the leaves in place.

Time Spent:

This wreath came together in around two and a half hours

The wreath base cover itself took just over two hours. The leaves take about 6 minutes each.

Measurements:

12″ Wreath

Gauge:

  • 20 SC by 14 Rows = 6 1/8″ Wide by 3 7/8″ Tall
  • The cover works as small as 5.75″ wide, if any smaller, go up hook size/s.

Easy Apple Wreath Written Tutorial:

First, you will need to gather your wreath base color (I used Cherry Red), and styrofoam wreath form, and head over to my Basic 12″ Wreath Form Cover Free Crochet Pattern. Don’t forget the wreath hanger if you need one (I used Coffee for mine to be the stem of the apple).

Once finished, time to start your leaves! I used my Basic Leaf Pattern 2 Ways to work up 2 leaves in Tea Leaf.

Assembly:

Your wreath base should already be sewn closed on the styrofoam base.

Decide where to place your leaves. I used a sewing pin to help me map out where I wanted them to be, and ended up using this method to secure the leaves, but I usually hot glue them down.

Enjoy your simple and sweet Apple Wreath!

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
