If you’ve been on Ravelry or Instagram or any crafty social media recently, you’ve heard about pocket shawls. They are absolutely the trendy item this fall, and for good reason. They’re adorable, quite comfy and warm, and most of the designs are just a simple rectangle that you can jazz up with various stitch textures. It’s easy to see why designers (and customers!) are enjoying them.

Through the Window Beanie – Free Crochet Pattern in 7 Sizes

September 19, 2020

This is a free crochet pattern for how to crochet the Through the Window Beanie – a fun crochet pattern that uses the mosaic crochet technique. Don’t let it scare you! It’s comprised of simple single crochet stitches, chains and easy double crochets.

There are 7 sizes included, so you can make one for each member of the family, and while my favorite way to work this technique is with a variegated color underneath, and a solid coordinating color on top, it also looks great with both solid colors, and even looks neat all in one color – think white on white texture.

You’re Not Alone Cowl – Crochet Pattern Review – The Cozy Cottage Crochet

September 9, 2020

This is a crochet pattern review of the You’re Not Alone Cowl pattern from designer The Cozy Cottage Crochet. Review done by A Stitch Shy of Normal for EyeLoveKnots.

This pattern is so easy but looks very impressive, so it’s a wonderful option for a gift because it says that you thought of the recipient and wanted them to have something gorgeous and special! I can totally see this one being a great option for holiday gifts, especially in some rich greens and burgundy shades as well as this exact gold I chose.

Pebbled Texture Crochet Hat – Crochet Pattern Review – Yarnspirations

September 2, 2020

This hat has been my favorite free beanie pattern since I first learned how to crochet nearly 4 years ago. As soon as I was able to make standard double crochet hats, I found myself drawn to this pattern when I first stumbled upon it.

The front and back post double crochets intimidated me at first, but following along with Mikey from the Crochet Crowd on his YouTube tutorial helped so much (linked for you!). I still have yet to find something that works up as quick and unique. Come check out my full crochet pattern review!

Welcome!

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind EyeLoveKnots and On Rockwood Lane! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.
